Nabish Lake

Overview

Location: 23km SW of Dryden, Ontario.
Size: 3,968 ha (248 units, 15 claims)
Target Minerals: Nickel, Copper
  • Untested PGE potential

Other Local Exploration

Canadian Arrow 55 km to west, Laurention Goldfields 10 to northeast

Property Geology

The Property overlie a portion of the Nabish Lake Mafic Intrusive (Figure 3), one of several layered mafic intrusions (ca. 2732 Ma) lying along the periphery of the Atikwa Batholith (ca. 2730 Ma). There appears to be an east-to-west fractionation trend, from pyroxenite-gabbro-dominated couplets on the east to gabbro-anorthositic gabbro couplets on the west. Mineralization encountered is primarily disseminated sulfides, dominated by pyrite, but also include lesser chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite. Sulfide concentrations are typically less than 1%, but locally attain 2-3%. Sulphide intergrowths with silicates suggest a magmatic origin for these sulfides.

Historical Highlights

Historical showings indicate that nickel and copper sulphide mineralization are hosted within and along the contacts of locally altered and sheared gabbro and mafic volcanics. Rock grab samples from the zones are reported to range from 0.56% to 2.19% nickel and 0.16% to 4.00% copper. Limited work has been carried out on the property.

Work Completed to Date

Sedex will complete a compilation of existing regional and local data to assess the size potential of existing zones and identify new targets for testing by ground geophysics, geochemistry, trenching and/or drilling.

Recent Highlights

The Nabish Lake Property is very similar to Amador Gold's Loveland Property, and it has recently been flown with airborne geophysical surveys. Prospecting is next to impossible due to extensive Aeolian cover. Limited soil sample over one VTEM target delineated a weak platinum group metal response.
